My passion is to help empower people to trust in themselves and to help create the most positive birth experience unique to them. Personally, I have had the privilege of being able to birth my own children, as well as carry for another, as a surrogate. Having had varying experiences in pregnancy and birth, I can personally attest to the wonder of having a doula by my side. It was at this time that I fell in love with birthing culture and with the innate magic that we, as birthing beings, possess. That being said and all magic aside, let’s just be honest.. birth can feel scary. Not only for you, but also for your partner and/or family members. This is where I get to step in and guide you as we explore what’s uniquely best for you.

Professionally, I’ve received training both with the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) and Doulas of North America (DONA) International. I am also certified as a Peer Counselor and Advocate and have a background in trauma support. I am a firm believer not only in the power of knowledge, but also of choice and informed consent. Every decision during your pregnancy and birth experience should be up to you. Some clients know exactly what they want and I am simply there to have their back and offer physical and emotional support. Others may feel a little scared or lost, or uncertain about what their options and choices may be. In this case, my role may be to offer unbiased evidence based resources, or suggest ways in which clients can engage in conversation with their medical provider. For others, I may simply offer to be a sounding board or a holder of space as they sort through their options, or process their feelings and emotions.

No matter what your mindset or where you are coming from, I would love to support you as you journey through pregnancy and welcome your precious life into the world. Giving birth is such a powerful and personal experience. I feel such honor to be witness to such beauty.

Birth is an incredible opportunity to connect with baby and work as a team to birth one another. This impactful life experience should be treated with respect and compassion. Ideally, parents will feel empowered, and look back knowing they made the best choices for their situation with informed consent and trust in their own intuition. My own mother’s journey through multiple cesarean births, vaginal births, and finally two homebirths, opened my eyes to the power of self-advocacy and education. Looking back on the birth of my son, I would have benefited from the support of a doula. As I labored, it would’ve been nice to have someone there to suggest ways to make me more comfortable and do their best to make sure my birth plan was followed.

After becoming a mother, a whole new world opened up to me and now my passion is birth work. I have a vision to help create a more equitable and sacred journey into parenthood for everyone. I am here to support your birth vision. I provide education, guidance, and resources during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding. Some unique comfort measures I utilize are vocalizations, affirmations and live medicine music if desired.  Creating community and utilizing ceremony are some of the things that I hope to cultivate as a birth professional. I have been trained by Doulas of North America (DONA) and am currently working on earning my certification from them. I am a Breastfeeding Education Counselor through UCSD. I have a Bachelors of Arts in interdisciplinary studies and am continuing my education to become a Lactation Consultant. I am also an artist and do belly casting! I would love to be on your team as I build my experience in supporting families through one of the most magical, and honestly sometimes challenging seasons of life.
